Forensic linguistics is an interdisciplinary field that combines the study of language and linguistics with the practice of law, criminal investigation, and security. This field has become increasingly important in recent years, as the use of digital communication has grown, leading to new challenges in identifying and interpreting language evidence in legal and security contexts.
This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and techniques of forensic linguistics, with a focus on developing critical thinking skills and practical applications. Over the course of sixteen weeks, students will explore a range of topics, including language evidence analysis, forensic phonetics, authorship attribution, and linguistic profiling.
